JACOBABAD: Importance of gender transformative approach in ending gender-based violence was organized by Rutgers Pakistan and Community Development Foundation (CDF) Jacobabad, on Wednesday. On the occasion, Irshad Rana, a representative of Rutgers Pakistan shared the objectives of the training and welcomed the guest. He stated that lets resolve to promote responsible fatherhood. He paid tribute to those fathers who despite of all social odds educate their sons and daughters alike and empower them. Those fathers are role models for other men in the society said Rana.

While talking about the significance of the adoption of the gender transformative approach in GBV prevention, Saima Gul from CDF stated that among all social issues women rights issues particularly prevention and protection of women from gender-based violence have always remained the most integral part of discussion for mainstream media. History of almost all, social, legal, economic and political movements against GBV worldwide reveals that, men have always been perceived as the primary perpetrators of violence and have been kept at away from solution mechanisms. This has hampered the realization of the most promising results of the many wonderful programs run in the past to end GBV. In the recent years, results from a number of countries from Africa and Asia show that men-engage model has significantly proven successful in preventing gender-based violence. Men- engage model emphasized the engagement and involvement of men and boys in preventing gender- based violence.
