ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has refused to attend a global conference scheduled to be held from October 21-23 in India.

Justice Jamali has refused to participate in the global conference in the wake of tension between Pakistan and India. The CJP was invited by his Indian counterpart to attend the conference. Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale had personally extended the invitation to Justice Jamali.

Rejecting the invitation, Justice Jamali said that he could not undertake the visit in the prevailing situation. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed in this regard.” The ministry will inform India’s High Commission formally about the decision.
