Islamabad and Rawalpindi based journalists and media personnel held a protest on Thursday before the Ministry of Information against the media owners and the federal government for the un-payment of their salaries for quite a long time.
Originally the protest was staged when a private media channel withdrew itself from paying the salary of 10 months to Fayaz Ali, a cameraman, who died of a heart attack a couple of weeks ago.
Be that as it may, every junior media worker is going through the same situation where getting salaries on a monthly basis was a dream ago. The protestor lauded.
“This is our final warning to the government and media channel owners as we have suffered long enough and will not tolerate this repression anymore,” the protesting journalist vowed.
Further, the protesting journalist said that the federal government has deliberately stopped the commercials, on the account to repress the media workers. On the other hand, media owners are not paying our salaries at the due time, but act briskly when it comes to extracting taxes.
“Who is answerable for the livelihoods of our families when we are constrained from similarly by government and media owners.” The protesting media workers urged.
Meanwhile, different political leaders — Zahid Khan of Awami National Party (ANP), Farhatullah Babar and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry of Pakistan People Party (PPP) and PML-N, separately, also got hand together with the dissidents.
The political pioneers asked that the occupying government made a record — by making individuals jobless particularly the media workers are the most affected.
“Does questionings were being restricted in Riyasat-e-Madina?” The protesting media workers questioned.
