More concerned about country’s defence than Imran’s circus: PML-N

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and Punjab government spokesman Zaeem Qadri has said his government was fully focused on the recent Indian provocation along the borders and had no time to contemplate on Imran Khan’s “circus”.

“Our government is focusing more on country’s defence and Indian provocation along borders. Imran Khan wants to divert the attention of people from it by replaying his own film. The government is providing full security to the political circus of Imran Khan in Raiwind, as it believes in democratic practices,” he said while addressing a press conference on Friday.

Advising the PTI chief, he said, “Let us move to the border together and stage a sit-in there to give a message that Pakistani nation was united against Indian brutalities.”

He said a few thousand people were not representatives of the nation, adding that there would be nothing new and constructive in the march other than Sheikh Rasheed’s embarrassing dance.

He went on to say that the Indian intelligence agency, RAW, along with the Afghan intelligence agency, NDS, were sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. “Still the threats of terrorism loom large. We have informed Imran Khan in writing about the security threats, and deployed over 7,000 security personnel for security of the march. Petty politics by Imran Khan in the prevailing situation was uncalled for and against the interest of the nation,” he observed.

He said the Islamabad sit-in caused losses to the tune of Rs 5.50 billion to national economy, while the losses inflicted by Raiwind March were estimated to cross Rs 10 billion, he claimed.
