ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria has said that India’s current belligerence is aimed at diverting the world’s attention from the grave situation prevailing in the disputed state of Jammu Kashmir.
In an interview on Saturday, he said that the international community, including the UN secretary general, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Amnesty International, had expressed concerns over the worst human rights violations in the disputed state, which brought India under pressure.
The spokesperson said that the Pakistani and the Kashmiri Diaspora in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world sensitised the world community over the Indian brutalities in the disputed state. He said that over one hundred Kashmiri people have been martyred, and over 800 others deprived of eyesight due to pellet shots during the last under-curfew three months.
He said that the international community must see who benefited from the Uri attack. He said that the Indian lies were being exposed, leading to its bafflement. To a question, he said that India has a track record of becoming a hurdle in the process of SAARC summit as it caused postponement of the summit for five to six times.
