SIO Jokhio remanded into police custody for 10 days

KARACHI: The administrative judge of the Anti Terrorism Courts (ATCs) Karachi Division has granted the remand of station investigation officer-SIO Korangi for his alleged involvement in facilitating the terrorists to escape away from police custody, the incident happened on Friday in which un identified terrorist attacked SIO’s private car and freed their accomplices from Police custody, a police constable Muhammad Rafiq was killed and Daim Khan sustained serious injuries in the counter firing.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Korangi submitted the FIR and remands papers before the administrative judge and stated that SIO Korangi Abdul Wasiue Jokhio is responsible of the incident , which took place due to his negligence.

The FIR of the crime was lodged under section 224, 34, 324, 323, 302, and 7 ATA.

SIO accompanied with the said constables were taking the 2 suspected killers of a police officer and constables back to Korangi Police Station in the private car of SIO after the hearing of the case in ATC. According to SIO’s statement, When they reached near Malir river, armed motorcyclists opened fire upon us which left one constable dead and other injured while the SIO remained unhurt in the incident.

According to media reports the police officials found enough evidence to prove the involvement of the SIO in the incident as four used bullet casings were found at the crime scene proving that the official pistol of
the SIO was used in the firing.
