KARACHI: The officials of Malir Development Authority (MDA) have been found involved in duplication of residential plots in different housing societies, causing huge financial losses to the provincial exchequer.
A scam has been unearthed when Secretary MDA launched a thorough investigation into the duplication of plots in Shah Latif town and other areas. It was found that Anees Ahmed, stenographer, during his posting in the Land Department, MDA, in connivance with his colleague Basharat Zaidi was involved in the transfer of plots of lower and middle income group people illegally, and was also involved in duplication of land record files.
According to sources, plot number L-38, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Saleem un Nisa through computer balloting by the KDA. However, the plot was alternative for Zaib Elahi s/o Muhammad Sultan in lieu of plot No L-900, Sector 18-A.
In another case, plot No L-18, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Allah Bux s/o Bahadur Khan through computer balloting by the defunct. As per existing record the said plot was alternative to Shaikh Ahmed son of Shaikh Ameer in lieu of plot No L-1077, Sector 25-A.
Subsequently, the same plot was transferred in the name of Asghar Ali Sheikh son of Mugar Ali Sheikh. Moreover, the plot No L-46, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Ahmed Ibrahim son of Haji Ibrahim Ismail through computer balloting by the defunct.
The said plot was alternative to Ahsanullah son of Jamil-ur-Rehman in lieu of plot No L-151, Sector 24-C, subsequently the same plot was transferred in the name of Mansoor Elahi.
The plot No L-17, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Khan Afsar son of Rehmat Din through computer balloting by the defunct KDA. The said plot was alternative to Mohammad Akber son of Muhammad Azam in lieu of plot No L-293, Sector 18-A, subsequently the same plot was transferred in the name of Abrar Hussain son of Raja Muhammad Salim.
The plot No L-50, Sector 30-A was allotted to Sarfaraz Ahmed son of Nabi Ahmed through computer balloting by KDA. The said plot was alternative to Mrs Naseem Akhtar in lieu of plot No L-70 Sector 16-A, subsequently the same plot was transferred in the name of Tariq Mahmood son of Liaquat Ali.
The plot number L-51, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Moosa A Sattar son of Abdul Sattar through computer balloting by KDA. The said plot was alternative to Nasir Ali Khan son of Ghulam Muhammad Khan in lieu of plot No L-258 Sector 21-B, subsequently the same plot was transferred in the name of Tariq Mehmood son of Liaquat Ali.
The plot number L-15, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Moizuddin son of Sadruddin Ahmed through computer balloting by KDA. The said plot was alternative to Mrs Zubaida Begum in lieu of plot No L-294, Sector 18-A, subsequently the same plot was transferred in the name of Asghar Ali Sheikh son of Mugar Ali Sheikh.
The plot number L-36, Sector 30-A, was allotted to Sarwar Begum through computer balloting by KDA. The said plot was alternative to Baig Muhammad Soomro son of Bhale Dino Soomro in lieu of plot number L-53, Sector 14-A.
While taking swift action against the massive corruption by the MDA officials, anti corruption department’s Inspector Zahid Hussain Merani has summoned Laiq Ahmed XEN of Shah Latif Town, Muhammad Zahid Khan, Sub Engineer at MDA Shah Latif Town and Junaid Masood Rashidi, Deputy Director Land MDA and recorded their statements.
“It is stated that the original record is available and the same shall be provided, as and when the same are required by any forum/agency for inquiry/investigation,” said a source while quoting the MDA officials.
