PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in a session on Tuesday demanded the federal government to include western route in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Parliamentary leaders of all political parties in the provincial assembly including the treasury benches demanded the federal government and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to fulfill his promise, he made with the KP government in APC held in Islamabad, that the western route will be included in the CPEC project.
The session of the assembly started in the chairmanship of Speaker Asad Qaiser as Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayat Ullah Khan raised the point of order and said that the federal government including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had promised in APC that the western route will be part of CPEC but all that promises were false.
“We all parties including the opposition stand together for CPEC western route because it was future for our next generation and no compromise will be on western route,” Senior Minister added.
He also demanded that the assembly will unanimously passed resolution to demand the federal government to include the western route in CPEC project according to the promise of PM and federal government.
He inform the House that when there was a tussle of federation the consequences of that were very bad as like the separation of Bangladesh, adding that the government should give rights to the small provinces.
The senior minister informed that when the KP Government was talking on CPEC some people said that some Indian lobby were not happy with CPEC in Pakistan, adding that KP people are in the favor of the project but they demand their due rights.
Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha of Pakistan People’s Party said that in $ 46 billion project there were only $ 3 billion dollars will be given to KP as it was very short amount.
“PPP will be part of the KP Government against sit-in or any other protest against the federal government for the rights of KP people”, Bacha added.
Bakht Baidar of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) said that the people of KP and government were stands shoulder to shoulder with Pak-army against Indian forces.
He added that people of KP have always rendered sacrifices in the war against terror but now the federal government was depriving them in execution of CPEC project, adding that this was the time to provide all facilities and rewards to the KP people for their sacrifices.
Mufti Janan of Jammat Ulama Islam (JUI-F) criticized the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) saying that after three years the KP Government realized to fight for the rights of KP people. Sardar Nalota of PML-N criticized the PTI chairman for giving remarks against NA speaker.
