KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has granted stay to the Chairman Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE) on Tuesday and summoned the Secretary Universities and Boards Government of Sindh for his comments on the matter.

Chairman SBTE Fasihuddin Kahan had moved a contempt of court application against the appointment of Masroor A Shaikh as chairman SBTE. The court ordered that “it is inter alia contended that the order on March 4, passed by this has not been complied within its letter and spirit. Learned counsel submits that in a non transparent manner, Masroor A Shaikh has been appointed as Chairman SBTE, the petitioner is already performing same duties therefore he requests that interim order should also be passed” the judge ordered to issue notices on CMA no. 26136/2016 till next date and status quo to be maintained, if the petitioner is relieved of the charge of the chairman SBTE.

Khan in his petition has submitted that he was appointed in June 2015 for the period of three years but just after three months an advertisement was released in the newspaper for recruitment on his post.

The applicant submitted that the SHC in March this year had directed the authorities concerned to follow the rules and procedure while appointing the new chairman on the recommendations of the search committee. He added on 1st October 2016 he came to know through media that Masroor A Shaikh has been appointed as the chairman of the board.
