Since Pakistan is gearing up to play its role in de-escalation of middle east tensions, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells will arrive in Pakistan on January 19 for a three-day visit, the US State Department said.

The visit by Wells will be a part of her 10-day visit to the region during which she will travel to Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan, from January 13-22.

Notably, she is expected to meet senior government officials and representatives from civil society to discuss the matters of grave concern.

As per the statement issues by US Department of State, the US envoy will discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including shared interests in a free and open Indo-Pacific region that fosters prosperity, democracy, justice, and human rights. Wells will then travel to India, from January 15-18, to attend the “Raisina Dialogue” to advance the US-India strategic global partnership.
