As many as 19,674 criminals were arrested and 470 encounters took place in the entire five districts of Larkana division during 2019. This was revealed in a performance report issued here Tuesday by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Larkana Range. The report further claimed that two bandits were gunned down, 68 criminals were arrested in injured condition whereas nine police officials embraced martyrdom and 13 cops were injured. Huge quantity of arms & ammunition were also recovered from the accused which include 42 KK rifles, 163 short guns, 19 rifles, 539 pistols, 41 revolvers and 4991 bullets. Contraband was also recovered from drug dealers and peddlers including 1.802 Kgs Ice, 5.440 kg heroin, 6045.580 kg hashish, 65.68 kgs opium, 52064 Ghutka and 3067 liter liquor. The report further revealed that over 15000 public complaints were redressed which include land, property and domestic disputes. Departmental action was also taken against 198 cops out of which 33 were removed from service. 1260 promotions were awarded during last year which include 200 ASIs to SIs, 540 HCs to ASIs, 509 constables to HCs and 11 junior clerks to senior clerks which also include 29 women police officers. The report further added that sports festival was organised for mental growth and physical fitness of cops. The report claimed that foolproof actions were taken to improve Thana Culture so that poor can be served at the police stations.
