LAHORE: It seems like the entertainment industry has finally realised its power and responsibility. Breaking free from the usual Saas-Bahu dramas, we have new and improved productions highlighting social issues every now and then.
ARY Digital took a step further and dared to be different with its upcoming drama ‘Khuda Mera Bhi Hai’, which highlights a harsh reality and a taboo topic; The third gender.
If everyone is equal in the sight of God, then why should we discriminate? Why can’t the society accept a reality that is in no one’s control? One does not choose to be a transgender. They are as human as everyone else and just as much God’s creation as the other two genders.
Life is no bed of roses for the third gender. They face un-acceptance from the minute they are born, even from their own parents. They are shunned from the society, given up on and even murdered at times. Considered as a source of shame, no one wants any association with them.
Dialogues like “Kiya kahengay hum logon ko? Humari bahu ney hijra paida kiya hai” and “Aur aulaad ho jaye gi humari, Chor do isey” give goosebumps and define the social stigma attached in the teaser of the upcoming serial. Khuda sab ka hai – who are we to not accept what God has created?
The teasers look promising and the storyline seems strong. ‘Khuda Mera Bhi Hai’ is Sana Shahnawaz’s second play after Mann Mayal, produced by Six Sigma Plus and set to air on ARY Digital.
Not only does the drama have a strong storyline, it also showcases a powerful cast including Aisha Khan, Jibran Syed, Samina Peerzada and Irsa Ghazal. Rumour has it that Furqan Qureshi will be seen playing the transgender. ‘Khuda Mera Bhi Hai’ is set to hit you right in the feels real soon only on ARY Digital!
