PTI slams Centre, Sindh for ‘patronising’ corruption

KARACHI: Criticising both the federal and the provincial governments corruption in public institutions, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter said on Friday that rulers had been inviting foreign firms to invest in Pakistan, but they forbade their family members abroad to do the same, saying: never come to nor invest in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh invited all segments of society to participate in October 30 sit-in. “If you want quality education for your children, rule of law in the country and provision of all facilities at government hospitals, you should participate in the Islamabad sit-in,” he said, while addressing the people of Karachi.

“We have condemned corruption at each level, weather it occurs in the Sindh Public Service Commission or any other government institution. We have raised our voice against malpractices,” he said.

Talking about the ‘injustices’ to the farmers, he said that the sugar-crushing season would start soon, and alleged that the government had decided to pay them Rs 182 per 40kg. “We stand by the farmers and growers, and will react if the government doesn’t increase the procurement rates.”

Speaking on the occasion, Firdous Shamim Naqvi said that the people of Sindh would participate in the upcoming sit-in in Islamabad for the sake of a corruption-free Pakistan.

He said that the PTI gave Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif six months to produce himself for accountability, but he only claimed that he was corruption-free. “He has not proved his claim at any forum.”

He said the family members of Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar did not invest in Pakistan, which proved that they did not consider it feasible.

PTI’s Member of Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman said that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had installed a “dry cleaner” that gives a clean chit to corrupt officials to work on the same posts from where they did corruption and afterwards entered into a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau. “I have submitted an adjournment motion in the Sindh Assembly against posting of these convicted officials.”
