Aitzaz Ahsan, Nawaz Sharif and the Rs 50,000 challenge

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the opposition in the Senate Aitzaz Ahsan on Friday made an interesting offer to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that if the prime minister merely named RAW agent captured in Pakistan Kalboshan Yadav publicly, he would donate Rs 50,000 to a charity organization. Taking the floor moments before prorogation of the joint session of the parliament, Aitzaz Ahsan said he would donate Rs 50,000 to a charity organization if the Prime Minister named Kalboshan Yadav, in reference to the widely held belief that Nawaz Sharif was hesitant to criticise the interference RAW caused in Pakistan.

“I will donate Rs 50,000 to Pakistan Association for the Blind the day Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif publicly takes the name of Kalboshan Yadev,” Ahsan said, prompting laughter amongst the members.

It may be mentioned here that Kalbhoshan’s name was included in the final draft of resolution passed by the joint session of the parliament, something the PPP demanded in their speech as well.
