KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has started making efforts to clean sweep in Malir District of Karachi as the party had arranged entry off all electable figures so that no one can contest against its candidates in next elections.

Recently Member National Assembly (MNA) of Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Abdul Hakeem Baloch has joined the PPP which is supposed to be the biggest break through in the politics of Malir because Baloch was the only political figure of the area, and chieftain of many local communities, who gave tough time to PPP in the general elections of 2013.

Following Baloch’s shake, PPP has strengthened its position in the district and has weakened the political hold of other parties including Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) and PML-N.

Malir District, which comprises of almost rural areas and it comprises 65% of the total area of Karachi, here people live in a community system and cast their votes on the will and opinion of their leaders and most of them are in Baloch’s camp. So according the situation which has emerged politicians hailing from Malir cannot even think of opposing PPP or resist it in any contest.

Sources told Daily times that taking advantage of the situation PPP has started efforts to tie all political figures in one knot andd has conveyed them to join the Party.

Talking with Daily Times Abdul Hakeem Baloch said that many political leaders of Malir will be in the PPP camp very soon.

“Leaders and workers of PTI, PML-N, and its youth wing are in close contact with him but some things are yet to be settled” said baloch adding that those who will join PPP will include some important leaders.
