KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started investigations into the properties of at least 15 top bureaucrats of Sindh including 13 officials of AG Sindh.

Also, the Secretaries of Mines and Mineral and Fisheries and Livestock departments are under investigation. Well-placed sources told Daily Times that the NAB has requested to an intelligence agency of the country to investigate the assets and properties of 15 officers.

The officers have made these properties beyond their known sources. “These officials are Secretary of Mines and Minerals, Secretary Fisheries and Livestock, and 13 from Accountant General Sindh,” said a source.

According to sources, the agency has started investigating into the assets and bank balances of all these officials and after that the NAB would take its action against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that NAB has already requested to the Sindh government to take departmental action against 379 officials who have voluntarily returned the embezzled government funds under the authority’s Voluntary Return (VR) scheme.

The NAB Sindh had recovered around Rs 1.5 billion from 379 government officials under the VR facility, and the recovered amount had been handed over to the respective departments.
