ANF seize drugs worth Rs 14.5bn in 18 operations

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized a huge quantity of narcotics weighing 6.164 tonnes valuing Rs 14.5 billion internationally during 18 counter narcotics operations conducted across the country.

The seized drugs comprised 5043 Kg Opium, 957 Kg Heroin, 157 Kg Hashish, 3.2 Kg Amphetamine, 3.64 Kg Methamphetamine and 30 Gram Cocaine. The operations also resulted in the apprehension of 22 persons involved in smuggling narcotics and the impounding of 8 vehicles.

According to an official press release issued by the ANF Peshawar on Thursday that an intelligence based operation in District Qilla Abdullah of Quetta seized 5043 Kilo gram (KG) Opium and 947 Kg Heroin.

According to details, the drugs were stocked at an isolated site situated at a general area at Killi (Village) Haji Nazar Khan, Tehsil Chaman.

ANF in another operation in Quetta at District Chagi seized 50 Kg Hashish which was concealed inside an uninhabited house located at Laghab, Tehsil Dalbandin, District Chagi.

As per initial information, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang. Yet in another operation, ANF Quetta intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car near FC Hospital, Quetta, recovering 80 Kg Hashish from secret cavities in the car. Two persons on board identified as Shah Nawaz resident of Benazirabad and Aziz Ahmed resident of Quetta have been arrested.

Moreover, ANF Quetta captured a motorcyclist named Faiz-ul-Haq resident of Quetta near Yasir Irfan Petroleum Service, Quetta and recovered 3 Kg Hashish from his personal possession.

ANF Rawalpindi apprehended a local drug peddler named Rahimdad resident of Attock while he was riding a motorcycle near Shaheed Fahim Abbas Naqvi Chowk, Attock city, recovering 1.1 Kg Hashish from his possession.

Similarly, ANF Lahore recovered 500 Grams Heroin from the possession of Saeed Ahmed resident of Khanewal arresting him near Pull Mola Pur, Tehsil Kabirwala, and District Khanewal.

In another operation, ANF Lahore during routine checking intercepted a suspected Toyota Hiace near Namal College, Rikhi Mor, Talagang Road, Mianwali and recovered 8.4 Kg Hashish during search of the vehicle.

Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore arrested Azeem Gul resident of Karachi along with recovery of 300 Gram Heroin and 3.2 Kg Amphetamine which was found in his personal possession. He was arrested near Lasani Pul, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad.

In a fourth operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Civil Hospital, Railway Road, Tehsil Shakargarh, and district Norwal and seized 6 Kg Hashish from secret cavities in the car.

Three persons on board identified as Sadiqullah and Ismail Khan Residents of Khyber Agency and Muhammad Kabir resident of Narowal were also apprehended during the operation.

In a fifth operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Vitz near Shell Petrol Pump, Wazirabad Road, Sialkot, recovering 3.6 Kg Hashish and 300 Gram Heroin contained in secret cavities of the car.

Two Nigerian nationals on board identified as JuslinChukwuemeka and Grace Nnewna were also apprehended during the operation.

In a sixth operation, ANF Lahore recovered 2 Kg Hashish from possession of a drug carrier namely Nasir Khan resident of Peshawar who was arrested near Allah Hoo CNG Pump, Johar Town, Lahore. In another operation, ANF Lahore arrested two drug peddlers including Umair Azam Khan resident of Gujranwala and Azhar Ali resident of Peshawar, recovering 350 Gram Hashish from their personal possession.

They were arrested near KhokharChowk, College Road, Town Ship, and Lahore while riding on a motorcycle. In addition, ANF Lahore also arrested an Indian national named HarjindarMasih along with 500 Gram Heroin and 300 Gram Hashish which was found in his personal possession.

ANF Peshawar on pursuance of information intercepted a Honda City car near Haji Camp, Peshawar and recovered 7.5 Kg Heroin concealed in it.

Heroin was concealed inside the rear cabin of the car. In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested a drug carrier identified as Saif-ur-Rehman resident of TobaTek Singh and recovered 2.4 Kg Hashish from his personal possession.

He was arrested near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar while travelling in a passenger bus.

ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested two foreign bound passengers identified as Waseem Ahmed resident of Shikarpur and Dur Muhammad resident of Kashmore at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, recovering 200 Gram Heroin and 3.64 Grams of Methamphetamine from their luggage.

They intended to take off for Jeddah by Saudi Airlines Flight No. SV-705. In another operation, ANF Karachi Airport Team in collaboration with ASF arrested a passenger namely Sheikh Muhammad Akhtar at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and recovered 340 Gram Heroin concealed in his trolley bag. He intended to board for Colombo by Air Lanka Flight No. UL-184.

Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi Airport Team apprehended Muhammad Amin Ghaffar resident of Karachi at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi while he was boarding for Uganda by Flight No. EK-604 and recovered 30 Gram Cocaine concealed in his trouser.

The press release revealed that all cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations were underway.
