Pondicherry University student who made headlines for rejecting her gold medal has clarified that she did it in solidarity with protests against the amended citizenship law and National Register of Citizens.
On Tuesday Rabeeha Abdurehim took to Twitter and clarified the reason why she rejected the gold medal, which was being awarded by President Ram Nath Kovind, who was the chief guest for the convocation ceremony.
She posted, “‘Did you reject the gold medal in solidarity with the protests or because they kicked you out?’ I rejected the medal in solidarity with every student protesting against CAA and NRC. They kicked me out because they feared I would do that. #resistNRC #resistCAA”
Earlier, it was reported that Rabeeha was stopped by the security from attending the ceremony because she refused to remove her hijab.
However, she said that she was stopped after she made it clear that she won’t be accepting the gold medal, she was not allowed to enter the auditorium to curb any furor.
