According to the the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited Jinnah’s mausoleum in the morning. “Quaid’s vision about creation of Pakistan based on the two nation theory is an even more acknowledged reality today,” a statement issued by the military’s media wing quoted him as saying. “We can’t thank him enough for having gotten us Pakistan. Even in the most difficult times, all Pakistanis including minorities have come together without compromise on respective identity,” it stated. “His vision will always guide the way for us to take Pakistan ahead following the principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline,” the press release added.
The army chief was apparently referring to what is happening in India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has recently adopted a controversial anti-Muslim citizenship law that has triggered violent protests and riots across the country. Nearly two dozen people have died since crowed took to the streets in numerous states enraged by the Hindu nationalist-led government’s legislation.
