LAHORE: For the first time in the cycling history of the country, Pakistan cycling team will take part in the UCI World Road Cycling Championship, being held from October 12 in Doha.
The team comprises two riders, Mushin Khan (SSGC) and Hafiz Tahir Mahmood (Wapda), said a spokesman for the Pakistan Cycling Federation on Monday. Nisar Ahmad is the manager of the team.
“Both the cyclists will participate in individual time trial,” he said and adding that “the best cyclists have been selected through open individual trials at Islamabad. It is hoped that the team will show their best performance in the premier cycling event.” He said that it is a great honour for the country that Pak team is participating in the world championship.
The PCB spokesman said that PCF National Coach Sardar Nazakat Ali and National Cyclist Fiza Riaz will be arriving back home on October 16 after completing 40 days training of Level Coaching at World Cycling Training Camp at Seoul, South Korea, organised by Korean Cycling Federation and Union Cyclists International.
