ISLAMABAD: The capital police has sought the help and cooperation of citizens to curb street crime, especially during Eid holidays.

Police is going to distribute pamphlets among people living in various parts of the city, containing messages for the people to follow precautionary measures before leaving their homes on occasion of Eid. The pamphlets will be handed over today to the prayer leaders to read them out after Friday sermons.

“The step has been taken to create awareness among people about the circumstances which help criminals to commit burglaries,” police said. The pamphlet compiled by SP City Zone Zubair Ahmed will be distributed among the people.

A large number of people leave Islamabad for their hometowns to celebrate Eid. As a result, the possibility of thefts and burglaries increases in the city. The pamphlets state that police have made security arrangements to protect the life and property of the residents, which is not possible without their cooperation.

It asks people to make proper light arrangements before leaving their houses or leave some person at home who can protect valuables in their absence. It further states not to leave gold, jewellery, cash or other valuables at home and to properly lock all rooms. Newspaper vendors should also be informed not to give newspapers during these days and to hire security guards with the mutual cooperation of neighbours. It further tells citizens to inform police before leaving and give complete bio-data along with CNICs of house maids, servants and drivers to their respective police station. It further appeals to the citizens to inform local police stations in case of any suspicious activity around them. These messages are being disseminated among citizens through ITP FM Radio 92.4.
