In the backward areas forced marriages are very common practices due to poverty, settling disputes, insecurities of parents regarding their daughters and the most important is Illiteracy.
Illiteracy is, in fact, the root cause of all the circumstances listed above. Culture and traditions seem a very charming factor to follow and it feels really good when we are following our ancestor’s norms and values but if the culture is ruining one’s whole life then it is not obligatory to follow it but this is a paradox of our generation that we have to follow each and every norm even if we are being tortured by it.
Although many laws have been formulated but child-marriage cases are still on the rise in Pakistan.
