Dollar closes flat versus rupee in interbank market

KARACHI: The US dollar closed flat against the rupee in the interbank market because demand by importers remained subdued, said treasurers. The greenback closed at Rs 104.20 for buying and Rs 104.50 for selling, currency traders said. The rupee is likely to remain steady because of insignificant demand by the corporate sector. Banks remained capable to meet their demand, which puts the rupee firm. The euro closed at Rs 114.90 for buying and Rs 115.26 for selling, shedding 90 paisas. The pound sterling closed at Rs 127.10 for buying and Rs 127.33 for selling. It lost Re 1. Kerb market: The rupee ended slightly low in the open currency market, said foreign exchange dealers. The US dollar closed at Rs 105.25 for buying and Rs 105.46 for selling, shedding 05 paisas from previous session’s level. Earlier in the day it was trading at Rs 105.24 for buying and Rs 105.45 for selling. The pound sterling closed at Rs 129 for buying and Rs 129.27 for selling, remained down by Rs 1.17 from previous session’s level. It was trading at Rs 128.99 for buying and Rs 129.26 for selling. The euro closed at Rs 115.75 for buying and Rs 116 for selling. It closed down by 93 paisas versus local currency.
