Ministers discuss amendment to NAB Ordinance with opposition

Two key federal ministers of the ruling party on Monday held meeting with the opposition leaders and discussed with them issue of the amendment to the NAB Ordinance. The ministers suggested to the opposition leaders that the legal draft of amendment to NAB Ordinance, 1999 presented by ex-law minister and the PPP leader Senator Farooq H Naek in Senate should be gotten passed from both Houses through consensus. However, the opposition hasn’t given positive response to the government over the suggestion. Sources said that during the National Assembly session two important Federal Ministers belonging to the party ruling in Centre held an informal meeting with PML-N leaders Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Khurram Dastagir Khan and Rana Tanveer Khan and discussed with them the NAB Ordinance amendment. The Minister asked the Opposition leaders that if the bill regarding NAB Ordinance presented by Farooq H Naek in Senate was also presented in the National Assembly and Opposition extends cooperation, the bill could also be get passed through mutual consensus.
