LAHORE: The civil society organisations have announced the launch of Pakistan Human Rights Defenders Network (PHRDN) in the country.
Over 250 organisations are currently part of this network, said PHRDN National Coordinator Tanveer Jahan at a press conference on Saturday. The network will work for the protection of human rights defenders through advocacy and by providing immediate assistance to those at risk in this regard.
Dedicated helpline numbers – 04235865041, 0334586041 – have been made available for complaints’ registration. Provincial officials of PHRDN – Peter Jacobs (Punjab), Zulfiqar Shah (Sindh), Ghulam Jan Mengal (Balochistan) and Qamir Nasim (KP) – were also present.
