‘Avengers — Endgame’ most Googled film in Pakistan

Google has released its most searched films and television content in Pakistan for 2019 and without any surprise, ‘Avengers – Endgame’ topped the Google Trends list.

The following list illustrates the top trending searches in Pakistan:

‘AVENGERS: ENDGAME’ — Pakistanis paid a tribute to ‘Ironman’ by making ‘Endgame’ the most searched film of 2019 in Pakistan. After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos’ actions and restore balance to the universe. Endgame emerged as the highest-grossing film of all time with $2.798 billion.

‘BIG BOSS’ — shockingly, Indian cringe-worthy but highly watched show ‘Big Boss’ has been searched widely in Pakistan and managed to come on second on Google Trends. Moving at a fast pace, the housemates must make the right connections and compete in challenges to face the finale in the fourth week before entering the second phase and surviving until the end.

‘EHD-E-WAFA’ — Ehd-e-Wafa features Osman Khalid Butt, Ahad Raza Mir and Alizey Shah in key roles. Written by Mustafa Afridi, and directed by Muhammad Saife Hasan, the plot revolves around a group of high-spirited friends who help, support, and enjoy one another’s company as they overcome the hardships in their life. It is no surprise that Ehd-e-Wafa made it to the third in the list.

Shockingly, Indian cringe-worthy but highly watched show ‘Big Boss’ has been searched widely in Pakistan and managed to come on second on Google Trends. ‘SUNO CHANDA 2’ — Suno Chanda season 2 is the second Pakistani TV show which made it to the Google Trends in 2019. The series explores the story of Jiya (Iqra Aziz) and Arsal (Farhan Saeed) after their marriage and also focuses on the marriage ceremonies of Sherry (Nabeel Zuberi) with Kinza (Mashal Khan) and Billo (Mizna Waqas) with Joji (Ali Safina). They had realised their love for each other during the last season. It also has new characters Mithu (Raza Talish), who is the son of Shahana s cousin Pari (Arjumand Rahim) and Jalal s niece Maina (Sabeena Farooq), both start liking each other and after a little family drama tied the knot, too.

‘KABIR SINGH’ — One of the most talked Bollywood movie of the year Kabir Singh also made it to the list of 2019 for Pakistan. Kabir Singh is a remake of a Telugu movie Arjun Reddy (2017), where a short-tempered house surgeon gets used to drugs and drinks when his girlfriend is forced to marry another person. Shahid Kapoor s flick smashed various records at the Box Office and emerged as the second-highest grossing Bollywood movie in 2019. The film received mixed reviews, with criticism directed at it for glamorizing misogyny and toxic masculinity. In response to criticism of Kabir being portrayed as a misogynist, Kapoor defended the character, saying, “There are all kinds of people in real life, including alpha-males who feel territorial entitlement, and I have played this character truthfully”.

‘CAPTAIN MARVEL’ — Once again, another flick from Marvel made it to the list. This time a female-lead superhero movie, Captain Marvel, has climbed to the 6th in Google Trends for Pakistan. Obviously, it only made it to the list after the thrilling hint of Captain Marvel at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Despite, her five… or max ten minutes cameo in the Endgamen, she still managed to book a place in the most searched contents.

‘MERE PAAS TUM HO’ — Mere Paas Tum Ho might not had raging and breaking TRPs in Pakistan, but “Do Takay Ki Aurat” and protagonist’s few slaps made the show hit, and one of the most searched contents in Pakistan. Shehwar and the show both experienced “hit” ratings really well. Mere Paas Tum Ho revolves around a simple man with high moral values who tries to give everything to his family. However, his wife has different plans to live her life at fullest which a successful businessman help in achieving.

‘MOTU PATLU 2019’ — We are also wondering like you how an unheard cartoon made it to the list. It revolves around two best friends Motu Patlu who live in Furfuri Nagar and always fall into trouble. To get out of those problems, often due to Motu s clumsy actions, they eventually get help from their other friends.

‘BHAROSA PYAR TERA’ — Bharosa Pyar Tera is ninth most searched TV show in Pakistan in 2019. You really might want to get careful while pronouncing its name. Drama serial Bharosa Pyar Tera is a story about true love, family ties and sincerity in relationships. Bharosa Pyar Tera featured as romantic soap opera, produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. It features Adeel Chaudhry and Komal Aziz Khan in leads.

‘GULLY BOY’ — one of the most appreciated and artistic Bollywood films, ‘Gully Boy’ concludes the Google Trends list in Pakistan. It is without any doubt welcomed as it really presented sublime cinematography with a marvellous performance from Ranveer Singh. It revolves around a boy named Murad, an underdog, who struggles to convey his views on social issues and life in Dharavi through rapping. His life changes drastically when he meets a local rapper, Shrikant alias MC Sher. It is a coming-of-age story based on the lives of street rappers in Mumbai.
