ISLAMABAD: A clash between two student unions of International Islamic University, prompted to one death and 29 injured on Thursday.
The fight occurred at the supper of three-day Educational expo when the members of the Islamic United Student Federation (IUSF) which comprised of Saraiki’ most, along with other origins went to fight with the members of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (Jamiat).
The student whose death occurred named as Tufail-ur-Rehman — was a member of Jamiat, and had hailed from Gilgit Baltistan.
Nevertheless, the three-day Educational expo was organized by the Jamiat members on Tuesday, with the gesturing of the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Siraj-ul-Haq, who had himself inaugurated the expo.
As per the source, the last day (Thursday) of the expo was assigned for female students of the university — after then the understudy of Jamiat held a supper for the organizers along with the salient union members, however, at the meantime, the members of Islamic United Student Federation (IUSF) prevailed there and abruptly started fighting with the organizers.
Despite the fact that the unliked episode emerged from a conflict that had happened a week ago — between the Jamiat and IUSF individuals.
Meanwhile, it isn’t affirmed yet by the police that on whose bullet the passing of the student happened, as the two gatherings opened fire in the midst of the conflict — although the postmortem has been held in PIMS yesterday.
On the other hand, Pak Rangers along with the police have been deployed on the premises of the Islamic University — though the university though will stay close today.
It is relevant to recollect here, the present government is probably going to elevate the prohibition on the student unions, because of the demands of solid power appeared countrywide on November 29, in the meantime, Sindh Cabinet has affirmed to lift the ban on student unions, which had continued since 1984.
