Traders, industrialists to protest against gas, electricity outages

LARKANA: The traders and industrialists of Kambar-Shahdadkot and Larkana districts have warned of resorting to massive protests and shutter down strikes against the load-shedding of gas and electricity. A meeting of the Federation of Trade Associations (FTA) was held at the Larkana Chamber office in which 27 trade associations, executive members of the Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, rice millers of both the districts and businessmen participated. Talking to reporters, Khair Muhammad Shaikh, Nisarullah, Tariq Nazir Shaikh, Anwar Ali Shaikh and others said that SEPCO was doing unannounced load-shedding in cities, towns, and villages to cripple life everywhere. They said that frequent tripping has also damaged big and small machineries causing losses to the consumers. They said that the Sui gas company was also reducing gas pressure. They warned that if both the companies fail to resolve their problems immediately they would stop payment of monthly bills and in the second phase protests would be held. In the third and final phase, a complete shutter down strikes would be observed, they said. The meeting also expressed its resentment over non-cleanliness, use of substandard material in development works, and illegal encroachments in both the districts.
