ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee on Defence visited and held meeting with Pakistan Navy Tactical School, Dockyard Karachi, under the chairmanship of MNA Sheikh Rohail Asghar.
The committee was briefed over the operational preparedness and the challenges and achievements of the Pakistan Navy. They highlighted one of the challenges “the sea pollution at Karachi”, which is very dangerous for maritime and ships of the Pakistan Navy.
The members of the committee expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness and assured their full support for resolving the pollution issue on priority basis. The committee also placed flowers at Shuhada Monument and prayed for them. Later, the committee visited the Bahria Model College and Cadet College a the Jinnah Naval Base in Ormara.
The committee was comprehensively briefed on the welfare work, especially in the field of education and health, which is being performed by the Pakistan Navy for the welfare of poor local community. The lawmakers appreciated the welfare initiatives and assured its full support in this regard.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Fehmida Mirza, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Ghulam Rasul Sahi, Saeed Ahmed Manais, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, and Sheikh Fayyazud Din, officers of the Defence Ministry.
