NAB chairman reviews performance of bureau’s operation, prosecution divisions

NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review overall performance of NAB’s Operation and Prosecution Divisions at the NAB Headquarters.

The NAB chairman said that NAB is committed to eradicating corruption from country through national anti-corruption strategy for logical conclusion of mega corruption white collar crimes cases by adopting “Accountability for All” policy. He said that NAB has received 54,344 complaints and filed 630 corruption references in various accountability courts during last 25 months. NAB has also recovered record Rs 73 billion from corrupt elements through direct and indirect way and deposited in the national exchequer. NAB is the only organization which has recovered Rs. 340 billion from corrupt and deposited in the national exchequer which is a record achievement.

Furthermore, NAB has filed 1270 corruption references in respected Accountability Courts which are under trial involving approximately Rs. 910 billion. He said that eradicating corruption and taking to mega corruption cases to logical conclusion is top most priority of NAB. He directed that corrupt elements, absconders and proclaimed offenders would be arrested as per law and taken to task in order to recover looted money from them and deposit in the national exchequer. This would help putting the country on road to progress, prosperity and completing all development projects on time. He directed all Regional Bureaus of NAB to file applications in respected accountability courts for early expediting the ongoing corruption references. He directed all NAB’s prosecutors to pursue the cases with full preparations on the basis of solid and incriminating evidence in respected courts for logical conclusion of mega corruption case as per law. He said that NAB is the only institution in the world which has fixed timeframe to conclude white collar crime cases besides NAB has also established its own state of the art Forensic Lab in NAB Rawalpindi which is helping in lending quality in conduct of inquiries and investigations as per law.

Considering corruption as cancer, NAB has adopted “Accountability for All” Policy to eradicate corruption and corrupt practices with iron hands. Due to this reason, figures of complaints from people against corruption have almost been doubled as compared to the figures of same period of 2018 to 2019. The comparative figures of last 25 months are indicative of hard work, commitment and excellent performance of NAB officers who are working in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism, where fight against corruption is being taken as a national duty. The Chairman NAB directed all DGs to conduct all complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations in accordance with law.
