ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday reserved its verdict in maintainability of a plea seeking to award title of ‘Field Marshal’ to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. Justice Aamir Farooq heard the case filed by Sardar Saleem. The petitioner prayed the court in his petition that General Raheel Sharif should be made Field Marshal keeping in view his performance and fight against terrorism. “Whether the Constitution allows it?” the bench questioned. The petitioner said that there was not such scope in the Constitution. However, there was an example of Field Marshal General (r) Ayub Khan in the past. After hearing arguments, the court reserved its decision on the maintainability of the petition.
