KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has constituted a committee to reinvestigate the Karsaz incident that claimed more than 180 lives some nine years ago.
The CM announced this on Tuesday while talking to media at ‘Memorial of Martyrs’ at Karsaz where he went to offer fateha and lay floral wreath on the memorial.
He said that unfortunately investigation into the Karsaz incident of October 18, 2007 could not take place properly. “This delay is because of the conspiracy under which the evidence of the incident was removed instantly.
It doesn’t mean that the investigation cannot be carried further. “I would do it again as Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto has issued me instructions in this regard,” he added.
The chief minister said that his party is the party of martyrs and “we (PPP leaders) are the custodian of the martyrs”. He added that the party has given compensations to the families of martyrs and those who have been left would also be compensated.
“We would not leave them alone,” he assured, adding that Bilawal Bhutto has launched his political struggle from October 16th rally. The response of the people of Karachi was historic; therefore the struggle of the chairman would also be historic, he added.
“I am thankful to the people of Karachi who have welcomed PPP chairman and the party,” he added. Replying to a question, he said that the federal government has constituted a cabinet committee on energy which only invites one chief minister .
“This is not a fair policy. All provinces must be treated equally,” he said, and warned the federal government not to develop only one province at the cost of others.
Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he was not against the development of Punjab or any other province. “I am a citizen of Pakistan and all the cities and provinces of the country are my cities and provinces. I am not against the development of any city, but some people have told me that the development share of other cities is spent only on one city. There must be equal treatment,” he lamented.
Talking about Sindh’s Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, chief minister said the governor is the representative of federal government and if they want to let him continue it’s their decision. He said the meeting of Governor with Bilawal was a routine meeting and the chairman has not invited him to join the party.
