KP Assembly concerned over non-seriousness of govt depts

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly showed deep concern over the non-seriousness of the government departments for not taking action against the questions of opposition and treasury provincial assembly members here on Tuesday.

Mufti Janan of Jammat Ulama Islam Fazl (JUI-F) while asking question from the Power and Energy Department there was no clear answer from the concerned department submitted in the House.

Opposition leader in the provincial assembly Maulana Lutf-ur-Rehman said that today the KP Government was weeping over its own departments’ mismanagement and non-seriousness.

He further said that in KP Assembly session the opposition members were not allowed to give recommendations while passing the legislation by the Speaker Assembly.

Senior Minister for Rural Development Inayat Ullah Khan said that this assembly is the representative of 25 million people of KP but the secretaries and high ups were not taking any action when the MPA were asking question.

He further informed that every government department should nominate a focal person for the assembly who can reply the question raised by assembly members regarding people.

On the occasion Speaker Asad Qaiser showed his deep concern over the non-seriousness of government department and secretaries and deputy secretaries.

He gave order to Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to report within ten days otherwise the assembly will send performance of the department to the privileged committee of the assembly.

On a question raised by MPA Miraj Hamayun Khan that the government was still not regularized the teaching assistant and for the last two years they were on protest.

Advisor to the Chief Minister on Higher Education Muhstaq Ahmad Ghani responded that they were many times discussed the issue with Public Service Commission, adding that Secretary of PSC were not giving time to meet him.

He said that the government was demanding no objection certificate (NoC) from PSC but the PSC were not giving the NoC for the last many months.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prohibition of Tobacco and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Bill, 2016 was presented by senior health minister but that were further referred for discussion.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women Bill 2016 was also presented by MPA Miraj Hamayun Khan, Uzma Khan and Amna Sardar while doing some amendment.
