Infant dies of dengue in Karachi

Dengue fever claimed the life of a two-month-old baby boy at a private hospital of Karachi, taking the death toll from this mosquito-borne disease to 43 since Jan 01, 2019. A baby boy, a resident of Kala Pull area of Malir died of dengue fever in a private hospital situated in North Karachi.

The baby was suffering from multiple diseases including dengue, hospital sources confirmed.

Spokesman Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) Sindh, while talking to PPI, confirmed the death of the child due to dengue fever and informed that a total 43 people had been died in Karachi hospitals this year so far out of these deaths 41 were reported from Karachi city and one each from Hyderabad and Ghotki.

However, 89 new dengue cases surface in the city during last 24 hours, out of them 89 in Karachi and nine in other districts.

In December, a total of 201 dengue positive cases emerged across the province out of which 186 were confirmed from Karachi and 15 from other districts.
