Pakistan Ordnance Factories’ performance praised

ISLAMABAD: Over Rs25 billion has been injected into the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) to meet the demands of the armed forces and to replace obsolete machinery, said POF Board Chairman Lt Gen Omer Mehmood Hayat on Wednesday. He was briefing Federal Defence Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain about the performance and achievements of POF in fiscal year 2015-16. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Defence Production, Rawalpindi. The Defence Production secretary and other officials were also present. The minister took keen interest in the briefing and expressed satisfaction over the performance of the POF, Wah. The POF chairman highlighted the achievements of the ordnance factories. He said that POF technicians and engineers were working hard to achieve the goals set for fiscal year 2015-16 despite their limited budget. He praised the professional competence and commitment displayed by POF personnel. Lt Gen Hayat said that POF, Wah had made remarkable achievements in saving costs in the development of indigenous projects. “Export earnings of POF, Wah have remarkably improved from $22 million in fiscal year 2013-2014 to $93.68 million in fiscal year 2015-2016. A total of Rs25 billion have been injected in the budget to meet the target demands of the armed forces,” he said. The minister assured his all-out efforts for provision of requisite funds to facilitate replacement of old and obsolete machinery.
