ISLAMABAD: The pay scales of the subordinate staff of Islamabad Police have been upgraded and the interior ministry has accorded its approval to the upgrading of scales on pattern of the Punjab Police pay scales.

The interior ministry approved the summary sent by the IG Islamabad Police on enhancing the pay scales and sent it to the finance ministry and the Establishment Division for approval.

Islamabad Police had informed the interior ministry that the Punjab government had upgraded the pay scales of constable from 5 to 7, head constables from BPS-7 to 9 and ASIs from BPS-9 to 11, therefore, the posts of the Islamabad Police subordinate staff should also be upgraded at par with Punjab Police.

As many as 7579 constables, 1423 head constables and 1079 Assistant Sub Inspectors of Islamabad Police will benefit from the increase in pay scales.

Motorway Police seize huge quantity of liquor: The Motorway Police has recovered 18 gallons (540 litres) of liquor from a car at Motorway (M-2) Sukheki service area and has also arrested two smugglers.

The Motorway Police received information that a man and a woman travelling in a white corolla car bearing registration number. LEC-2780 were smuggling liquor. On a tip off the Motorway Police issued alert orders to the patrolling vehicles. After some time during the search, the NH&MP officials observed the said car on Motorway (M-2) at Sukheki service area.

The Motorway Police after stopping the car arrested the two culprits namely Sharafat Maseeh and Asma Umair, during a search of the car and recovered 18 gallons (540 litres) liquor. Later on, the recovered liquor, vehicle and both the culprits were handed over to Police Station Sukheki for further investi-
gations.
