Emerging health issues

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Despite increasing awareness, worsening health problems are increasing. Cancerous diseases, disturbance in hemoglobin, lake of calcium, body fatness issue, obesity, high blood pressure, increase in heart diseases, liver and kidney diseases etc etc are now very common in our country.

Question is; why we are facing such health issues? Why modern countries are not facing polio and dengue fever? The reasons are very clear; poor health facilities, lower grade food items, below-standard cooking oil, fabricated dairy items are playing havoc with our health.

Infact, poverty is also a major cause of damaging health of a common man in Pakistan. Average life-span is decreasing from 70 years to 50 years. In case of severe illness, most of the people are unable to consult doctors in time and prefer self-medication to cure.

Our government must look into this matter and ensure proper health facilities to the poor.
