President urges businessmen to pay due taxes for development

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday urged the business community to pay their due taxes in order to contribute towards national development, which he said would ensure provision of basic services to the people.

Talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) headed by its President Khalid Iqbal Malik at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president said all segments of society should play their role in curbing corruption and improving national economy.

Mamnoon Hussain said due to better governance and sound policies, the economic conditions of the country were improving. He lauded the efforts of the government’s economic team for taking the country economically forward and resolve problems.

The president stated that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held great prospects for rapid prosperity and development in the country and called upon the business community to support the government in ensuring timely completion of this mega project.

He said the office-bearers of chambers of commerce should strive to resolve the problems of the business community and act as a bridge between the government and traders to serve the country and ensure economic development.

The ICCI president on the occasion appreciated the government for restoring law and order situation in the country and creating conducive business atmosphere, which had led to increased business and trade opportunities across the country.

He said foreign delegations were now regularly visiting Pakistan to explore and enter into business ventures. The office bearers of ICCI apprised the president about their problems. The president assured of his support in resolving their issues.
