A 14-year-old Pakistani girl was sold by her own father for Rs. 30,000. He sold his daughter to a blind man who had planned to marry her.
The incident happened in the city of Hyderabad, Sindh.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, police prevented the upcoming child marriage from taking place as they recovered the young girl.
According to the assistant superintendent of police (ASP) for Cantt, Zahida Parveen, Laal Bakhsh Jamali had promised to marry his then-11-year-old daughter to a blind man against a sum worth Rs20,000. Then, a few days ago, he demanded and received another payment of Rs10,000 and set the wedding date as November 30.
They agreed to a sum of Rs. 20,000, which was paid but the girl was not sold. Several years later, the blind man contacted Jamali and expressed his intention to marry her.
After receiving another Rs. 10,000, the girl was sold and the wedding was set to take place on November 30, 2019.
