No invitation received to join PTI’s protest: Qadri

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri on Friday said he had not received any invitation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to attend the planned sit-in in Islamabad.

“I have no idea why the PTI has planned a sit-in but nevertheless our political support is with the PTI,” said a PAT statement quoting Qadri as having said while talking to reporters at the Heathrow Airport.

Referring to Model Town incident, the PAT chief said, “We are well aware that we will not get justice as long as the present rulers are in power but this will not deter our movement and we will continue asking for justice.” He said the PAT would not move an inch from its demand of ‘Qisas’ in the Model Town killing case.

He said his present visit was to hire international jurists to fight the Model Town case in the International Court of Justice and to highlight at the international forums the “criminality of the present rulers through pressure tactics to bury the Model Town killings”.

When asked about second round of the ‘Qisas Movement’, Qadri said, “We don’t want to waste our energies at the wrong time. We will bring out our workers at the appropriate time and will never bow before the cruel rulers under any circumstances.” He said the second round of the ‘Qisas Movement’ would be announced at the right time.

To another question about the PTI’s sit-in in capital, he said he had no knowledge for how long the protest would continue.

He added, “The blood of the innocent who were martyred in the Model Town tragedy would bring down the present government.”

He said he was the first one who raised voice against corruption and rigging. He added the entire system needed an overhaul from top to bottom.
