Traders’ support sought in removal of encroachments

RAWALPINDI: Encroachments are the main hurdle in the smooth flow of traffic on city roads and these should be removed by the departments concerned at all costs to ensure a better traffic flow on the roads.

Acting Chief Traffic Officer, (ACTO) Rawalpindi, Yousaf Ali Shahid, said this while talking to a group of traders led by President, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, which met him at his office here on Friday.

The Deputy Superintendent Police, Traffic Headquarters, Tamoor Khan, the DSP City, Faisal Saleem and other traffic officers were also present on the occasion.

The CTO urged the traders to come forward and play a role to remove encroachments from the city roads as without the removal of encroachments, increasing traffic problems cannot be controlled and other traffic related issues cannot be addressed properly.

He said that all-out efforts were being made to remove encroachments so that citizens particularly motorists could be facilitated on the roads. Special arrangements have also been made to control the traffic jam problems in the city.

Wrong parking of vehicles on the city roads is strictly being checked and negligence on part of traffic police officials would not be tolerated, he added.

He also urged the citizens to cooperate with traffic police so that all traffic related problems could be addressed. Under the traffic plan devised for the regular traffic flow, traffic police officers had been directed to take action against violators of traffic rules in accordance with the law.

He said traffic wardens had also been directed to work with dedication and commitment to ensure the traffic flow so that the traffic mess.
