LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Friday dismissed for non-prosecution a petition seeking registration of high treason case against former president Asif Ali Zardari for uttering remarks against Pakistan Army.
Aftab Virk, an advocate, moved the petition. He submitted that the former president spoke against Pakistan Army, adding that the army was busy in Zarb-e-Azb and statement against it at such a crucial moment was not in the interest of nation.
He claimed that nobody could be allowed to deliver such statements against the institutions of national security. He submitted that former president Zadari had committed treason by attacking the army in his speech.
He requested the Lahore High Court to try him for high treason charges under Article 6 of the constitution.
