PESHAWAR: Scores of private school owners, teachers and parents on Friday rejected the grade 5th class assessment by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP) and threatened to hold protest demonstration in front of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.

“If grade 5thand 8thexaminations were taken by the BISEP, we will hold protest outside Provincial Assembly”, said Zakir Shah, President Private Schools Association.

Protest demonstration was organized by different private school associations of KP at Sher Shah Suri road opposite Cantonment Railway Station. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans in favour of their demands, the annoyed protesters including male and females shouted against the KP government.

While talking to media persons Zakir Shahsaid that they were totally against imposing such polices. All the four provinces had already rejected the class 5thexaminations by their respective education boards.

Similarly, he said that they were also not in favour of the proposed Regularity Authority Bill because with the passage of the bill most private schools would be greatly affected.

He maintained that the provincial government had not taken sector in drafting the bill the KP Government should take onboard private school owners.

“There is corruption in class 9thand 10thboard examinations and it is also an attempt to make a smooth way for further malpractices in education system”, he alleged. He said that through a conspiracy KP children are being deprived of their basic rights of education.

He was worried that if the grade 5thand 8thexamination handed over to BISEP millions of children would be compelled to leave education. He warned that if their demands were not accepted they would come out to roads with millions of school children and the whole responsibility would be rest on provincial government for any untoward.

Memoona Musarat, a private school owner said that there is a huge difference between private schools courses and government educational institutions. “The syllabuses are also different of private and public schools, we mostly delivering education in English medium while government schools in Urdu language, therefore our students will also face with difficulties” she expressed concerns.

She added that every private education institution used different publisher books and with that decision of KP government more than 10,000 private schools would affect.

“We cannot cover courses of government schools in this short time of period because the BISEP is going to take grade 5th examinations in next November”, said Naila a private school teacher. Nazar Hussain, Shahid Wali Khattak, Rabnawaz Khan and Iftehar Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
