PESHAWAR: The killing and burning of corpses of three unidentified females in Peshawar four days ago still remains a mystery for Peshawar Police as the investigation is still leading them nowhere despite enormous pressure from the human rights organizations.

Completely burnt bodies of three females were found in barren fields in Tehkal area of the capital city Peshawar. Initial police reports suggested that the women were intoxicated before being shot and burnt to the extent that the remains had to be sent for DNA tests in an attempt to establish their identity. Results from the tests are expected to arrive today (Saturday).

Surprisingly police reached to the conclusion after three days of investigation that all of the dead bodies were women against its initial statements that claimed that two out three were women. The case has emerged as a big challenge for the police capability and capacity in the field of investigation as the KP Police has been taking pride in its recently acquired advanced techniques and expertise in the field.

Similarly, the capital police are facing international embarrassment by keeping the human rights commission quite regarding the women death causality.

The human rights commission had already asked the Inspector General of KP Police to conduct the fair and transpire inquiry in the case and had showed grieved concern over the unpleasant incident.

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantonment area, Kashif Zulfiqar the police were so far unable to establish any conclusion regarding the case and the expected to be in a much better position after the arrival of the DNA test reports. They are also hoping to get help from other medical examinations that were conducted on the bodies.

However, he said that all three bodies were identified as women after the initial examination between the ages of 18 to 24 and were intoxicated before their brutal murder and eventual blazing.

According to a resident of Tehkal who lives close to the site where the bodies were found by the Police, the insulting and unfriendly attitude of police towards the common dwellers of the area was making things difficult for the investigation officers as they were unable to get any help from any potential witnesses. “No one here would like to give any support or information to the police that could help them in their investigations. Their behavior is not helping their cause,” the local alleged, while requesting anonymity.
