MANSEHRA: The local police have arrested a man in Oughi for allegedly injuring sensitive body parts of his wife in an honour-related dispute on Saturday.

According to the Mansehra Police, the suspect Ali Muhammad had taken his injured wife who was bleeding excessively to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. He (husband) told the on duty doctors that the victim was accidently injured from the flying pieces of glass from a shattered mirror at the family’s home in Shaheed area, Oughi. However, the story was not bought by the doctors as they informed the hospital police, who arrested the suspect and handed him over to police in Oughi.

Station House Officer (SHO) at Oughi Police Station informed media that the case was a rare one in his official career. “Upon contact, the father of the injured female registered First Information Report (FIR) against his son-in-law. We have now registered a case against the suspect and was produced in the court of law,” Muhamamd Javed, SHO Oughi said.

The police officer added that the suspect, Ali Muhammad confessed to committing the crime, while claiming that he took the hostile step after he found his wife busy talking to an unknown male over her mobile phone. “The husband claimed that he wanted to divorce his wife but she sought pardon and that is when he committed the crime. We have recovered the dagger the suspect used in the crime,” Muhamamd Javed added.

According to the hospital staff, the female, whose name was not shared with the media was still in serious condition at the hospital but her life was out of danger.

According to details, the family had recently shifted from Torghar district to Oughi in Mansehra. The family of the victim have termed the allegations leveled by the injured female’s husband as baseless and have demanded for strict action against him.
