A street in Jeddah has been named after a Pakistani martyr

Saudi Arabia: A street of Jeddah has been named after Farman Ali Khan, to his ever remembering worked for humanity by saving 14 people in 2009 flood in Jeddah.

Before this, the crown prince Shahzada Muhammad Bin Salman also asked the authoritative in KPK to built a memorial health center in Farman’s village during his last visit to Pakistan in 2019.

Farman Ali Khan, the man to be remembered, a father of three daughters and the third child of Umar Rahman, hailed from Khawza Khela area of Swat, in 2001 went to Saudi Arabia to earn a living for his family back at Pakistan. He started working at a grocery shop in the district of Jeddah.

It was 2009 when an overwhelming flood hit the Jeddah city abruptly where numerous lives suffocated into it. Watching a frightening situation in the town, Farman went to the scene and began to protect the helpless individuals.
To do this, he tied one end of a rope to a pipe and the other to his waist and jumped into the roaring floodwater to rescue people. In his capacity, he was rescuing people one by one and the numbers of lives he saved reached 14 but then his rope cut off from en end and he sank in the floodwater.

After his Shahadat, the government of Saudi Arabia honored him with the highest civil awards ‘King Abdul Aziz Medal of the First Order’ as well as invited his family to perform Hajj as a special guest in 2011. The Saudi ambassador to Islamabad called him an “Islamic hero” while meeting with his family. For showing his bravery in prevailing humanity, the government of Pakistan also honored him Tamgha-i-Shujaat, the highest civil award for bravery.

His daughter quoted in an interview given to Arab News,
“He will be alive in our memories forever. Everyone in our neighborhood and school knows us as the children of a hero”.
