NOWSHERA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has come with a new formula in a bid to eliminate corruption from the country.

Speaking on the second day of the party’s annual congregation in Azakahel, the JI chief said tenure of future governments should be reduced to four years.

He criticised Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for borrowing money from foreign lenders, saying that the minister had won the title of best finance minister but burdened the nation with an unprecedented amount of loan.

“A large portion of the population is living below the poverty line and the number of such people was increasing with each passing day despite the fact that Pakistan is a country with abundant natural resources,” he said.

Siraj said millions of people had sacrificed their lives for the country envisioned by its founder. However, he said, after independence a specific section of the society hijacked the country and introduced their “version” of democracy.

He said implementation of Islamic rule was the only solution to the problems in the country. However, he said Islamic system could not be implemented through the use of force.
