PST leader shot dead in Haripur

HARIPUR: Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST)  Maulana Shaukat Nawaz was gunned down on Sunday in Makhan Colony, Haripur, police officials said. His brother, Chanzeb, told police that unidentified assailants opened fire on his brother [Shaukat] after he left for the mosque in Makhan Colony to lead Fajr prayers. He received several bullets in his body and died on the spot, he said.

Police have registered a case against attacker(s) and started an investigation. According to the complainant, their family had an enmity back in the village. However, he did not mention anyone for the murder of his brother.

Meanwhile, activists of the PST staged a protest against the killing of their leader. They have also threatened to launch province-wide protest if killers were not arrested within 24 hours.
