LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders on Sunday warned the government to resolve the issue of Panama leaks at its earliest, otherwise it would have to face the music, as the date to lock Islamabad down has been finalised and would not be amended.

While meetings different party leaders to make Imran Khan’s scheduled protest call for locking down Islamabad successful, former Punjab governor and PTI leader Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar warned the rulers that reverse counting has started for them and they should accept PTI’s accountability demand before its too late.

He confirmed that decisions have been finalised with regards to PTI’s November 2 protest, adding that no amendment could be made in this regard. He said that the Panamagate controversy could be resolved within days if the government shows seriousness and refrains from delaying tactics. He claimed that the rulers have mortgaged the entire country by taking loans, which only depicts their lack of vision.

Sarwar said that his party is fighting for accountability, which is a legitimate and constitutional demand. “It is manifestation of national desires,” he said, adding that it would be better for rulers if issues were resolved on time.

“Visionless rulers have taken plenty of loans, which would make life exceeding difficult for the coming generations. PTI is fighting for national problems and change, and it’s beyond doubt that Imran Khan is the only person that can steer the county out of crisis,” he added.

Meanwhile, Advisor to PTI Chairman Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Sunday that the nation has rejected the ruling Sharif family’s monarchism. While talking to party delegations at her office, she said Imran Khan has shunned “fear” by challenging the corrupt prime minister to present himself for accountability. The masses have rejected rule of monarchism and have demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to bring country’s looted wealth back.

She said that there were long queues of corrupt individuals in the National Accountability Bureau and other state institutions, adding that corruption could not be eliminated without holding government employees accountable. She said corruption had markedly reduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to strict monitoring and effective accountability system.

Yasmin said those parties, which were silently supporting the government and waiting for turns, would never allow the process of accountability to flourish in the country, as redressal of the masses’ problems was least of their concerns. She said the state institutions, including National Accountability Bureau, Election Commission of Pakistan, Federal Board of Revenue and Federal Investigation Agency, were filled with corrupt officials and there was no body to hold the corrupt accountable.

She stresses the need to hold corrupt officials accountable in Punjab, in line with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PTI leader said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was out to derail the entire country.
