RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has approved a project to shift 700 Rawalpindi schools to solar energy. According to details, 20,000 schools across the Punjab will be shifted to solar energy at the cost Rs 9 billion.
In the first phase, 10,000 schools of Southern Punjab and in the second phase, 10,000 schools of Northern Punjab will be shifted to solar energy. More than 700 schools of Rawalpindi district will be shifted to solar energy. The Education department has started preparing lists of these schools. Solar panels will be set up in these schools under Khadim Punjab Ujala Programme for promotion of education.
Transferring of schools of far-flung areas on solar power where electricity is not available will benefit hundreds of children including girls and boys. A proper monitoring system will be worked out for implementation of this programme.
CDA: In order to facilitate general public, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started online system for payment of bills and taxes.
According to details, initially CDA has started online billing with the cooperation of Muslim Commercial Bank while for other account holders, this facility will be provided soon. The CDA and MCB had signed an agreement last month to make online billing system functional. Residents of Islamabad will now benefit from this facility by paying their bills and taxes online. CDA Administration Member Yasir Peerzada said that the authority was taking these steps based on information technology to facilitate the public and to address their problems. “For this, the CDA has launched an Islamabad City App which is functional now,” he said.
